What to know
How it is performed
The surgeon selects an incision pattern based on the amount of excess skin and the lift required. Breast tissue is reshaped, the nipple-areola complex is repositioned where appropriate, and excess skin is removed. Implant addition or reduction is a separate planning choice.
Who may consider a consultation?
People with lowered breast position, stretched skin or downward-pointing nipples may discuss a lift. Future pregnancy, breastfeeding and weight changes should be considered when choosing timing.
Recovery & follow-up
Expect swelling and temporary changes in sensation. Support garments, incision care and lifting restrictions are tailored to the operation. Shape and scars mature over time, and the initial result can change as healing progresses.
Risks & considerations
Discuss visible scars, asymmetry, altered nipple sensation, wound healing and blood-supply complications. Breastfeeding may be affected, and later tissue changes can alter the result.
Questions to bring to your consultation
Ask whether a lift alone or a combined procedure is appropriate, where scars would lie and how nipple position, sensation and future pregnancy may affect the result.
