What to know
How it is performed
The surgeon removes planned tissue and excess skin, reshapes the remaining breast and repositions the nipple-areola complex using a technique suited to the reduction. Liposuction may be used for selected fatty areas; it does not replace every component of a reduction.
Who may consider a consultation?
People with heavy breasts, related discomfort or a wish for a smaller breast shape may consider consultation. Health, tissue composition and plans for pregnancy or breastfeeding affect the discussion.
Recovery & follow-up
Incision care and a support garment are important early on. Plan restrictions on lifting and strenuous exercise, with clearance based on healing. Swelling and breast shape settle over time, and scars continue to mature.
Risks & considerations
Discuss scarring, asymmetry, nipple sensation or blood-supply changes, wound healing and effects on breastfeeding. Symptom relief and the exact final size cannot be guaranteed.
Questions to bring to your consultation
Share any physical symptoms and ask about expected size, scars, nipple sensation, breastfeeding considerations and how weight changes may affect the result.
