What to know
How it is performed
Incisions are planned around the ear and hairline according to the approach. Selected underlying tissues are repositioned, excess skin is removed and the remaining skin is redraped. Neck treatment or volume restoration may be considered as separate parts of the plan.
Who may consider a consultation?
People with facial or neck laxity who want to explore a surgical change may consider assessment. Skin quality, smoking, health conditions and expectations influence suitability and the extent of treatment.
Recovery & follow-up
Swelling, bruising, tightness and temporary numbness are common early on. Dressings and drains may be used. Plan time away from strenuous activity and follow the review schedule; scars and residual swelling mature gradually.
Risks & considerations
Discuss bleeding or haematoma, wound-healing problems, facial nerve injury, changes in sensation, asymmetry, scars and possible revision.
Questions to bring to your consultation
Ask which areas would be treated, where incisions would lie and whether a lift addresses your specific concern. Discuss skin quality, facial volume and realistic expectations.
