Nipple Correction Surgery

An inverted nipple (or invaginated nipple) is a condition where the nipple instead of pointing outward, is retracted into the breast. This remains a major concern for breastfeeding. This may be present as a born with the condition or may be the sequel of trauma, burns or infection.

An inverted nipple is a correctable cosmetic problem and cosmetic surgery can provide a solution to this condition.

Purpose:

  • To give projected, desired look to nipple
  • To correct inverted nipple (to facilitate breast feeding)

Procedure: The nipple is held in the “out” position; several lines of dissolving sutures are inserted under the skin to maintain the nipple in the desired, projecting position. Protective dressing is placed over the nipples for a couple of days to hold the nipples in position and ensure they don't retract again during healing. The procedure does not leave any scar mark.

Duration of Procedure: 1-2 hrs

Anesthesia: Local or sedation

Recovery Tim: Back to work with in 24 hrs.
